ABA BMX Policy rule changes for 2011:
  • Clips: All riders, male and female, aged 9 and under are not permitted to use clips in any Alberta Cup BMX race.
  • Upgrades: Intermediate Male to Expert Male: 20 wins
  • New Cruiser class: 45+ Male will be changed to 45-49 Male with the addition of a 50+ Male Cruiser class.
  • Malicious Interference: Interference is often a complex offense, given that BMX is a contact sport. The commissaires will determine whether it was malicious or not. If an infraction or interference can be avoided, and is caused, the officials may determine it as being malicious. Malicious interference between two or more riders will be penalized. Malicious will be defined as the intent to hurt or harm another rider.
  • Helmets: Helmets must be of full face construction. Helmet strap must be securely fastened during the completion of the race. Open face helmets are not allowed.
  • Racing: “Open Class” category and Time Trials will be added to Alberta Cup BMX Races for 2011.
