Jim Negenman has been among the most influential figures in BMX in Canada and around the World. His positions within the Alberta Bicycle Association , Canadian BMX Association, International Cycling Union, Canadian Cycling Association and Alberta BMX are nothing short of amazing! As an official Jim has dedicated a countless number of hours to the sport of cycling particularly BMX.
In recognition of Jim's contributions to the Sport he has been awarded the the Alberta Officiating Recognition Award by the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation. The program is designed to recognize coaches for their successful and outstanding achievements in developing Alberta's amateur athletes and to recognize officials for their successful and outstanding achievements in officiating sports that involve amateur athletes.

The coaches for the 2009 version of Alberta Provincial BMX Team have been appointed.John Cools, patriarch of the legendary Cools BMX Family will be leading the Performance Group and Christine Miller, multi year member of BMX Team Canada, will be coaching the Development Group of Team Alberta.
Alberta Bicycle is thrilled to have two such highly qualified individuals at the helm of the team in the inaugural year of its newly expanded format. Immediately after April 1, (upon release of the final team roster), Alberta Bicycle and the coaches will be working together to find two parent-managers to help with the operations of the Performance and Development groups for 2009.

The Alberta Bicycle Association has recently been informed that BMX and Mountain Bike (XC) will be part of the 2010 Alberta Summer Games in Peace River and Grimshaw. The 2010 Games will mark the return of Mountain Bike to the games for the first time since 2004 and will mark the development of a new BMX track in northern Alberta.Roddi Lega (MTB & BMX Coordinator) stated "The Alberta Summer Games provide a great opportunity for growth and development of Alberta's next generation of top athletes."
Qualification and coaching information will be announced in early 2010.
