As mentioned the Provincial team has expanded starting in 2009 to allow for up to 40 riders starting at age 9 through to Junior. There are 2 tiers; the youth development team consisting of 24 riders and the performance team consisting of 16 riders. The details can be read and downloaded here ...

The Alberta BMX Executive and Alberta Bicycling Association committee met in Airdrie and hammered out some changes for the upcoming 2009 Provincial and District season. The highlights include:
  • Shorts with knee and shin protection (as per UCI rule 6.1.057) are now allowed.
  • 9 and under and 10-12 cruiser classes have been added
  • The provincial points table and series points calculation method when classes are combined has been modified. See the POINTS TABLE page for the changes
  • The Provincial team has been expanded into 2 tiers with selections starting at age 9. More details and selections for 2009 to follow
  • The rain-out policy has been amended to allow new registrations at any make-up race instead of limiting registrations only to those that registered for the original rained out race
  • There will be a new start gate policy implemented in 2009. It does NOT require that everyone gets a new gate, the new standard will have a minimum cost impact to the clubs. More details will follow

Possibly the greatest rider camp to ever hit Alberta will take place at the Airdire track this coming June 5-7. Some of the greatest BMX racers on the planet will be there with trainer extraordinaire, Ken Cools to teach you some skillz.

Next Alberta BMX Executive meeting will be held at the Airdrie Ramada Inn on Saturday January 31st - 10:00am
