Heading over to the Worlds a couple days early? You might want to race the Pre-Worlds in Abbotsford. The track has been re-built with input from Tom Ritzenthaler (the builder of the Worlds, Supercross and Olympic tracks) and there are many nations already signed up to compete. It is a UCI sanctioned event and happens from July 20-21st. More info here or register via Karelo.com

Once the Worlds are over it's back to business with Provincials and Western Nationals. There is new information posted about Cochrane's Western Nationals and Edmonton's Provincial Grands and Championships.
For Western National info check our Western National and CCA page
For Provincial info check our Schedules page

Although bicycle pads are no longer MANDATORY in Alberta or BC (but recommended) they ARE REQUIRED by law in Ontario and Quebec (as anyone who went to the Canadian Championships can tell you) for Provincial insurance reasons.
Also, it is mandatory at all CCA/UCI races (and is being enforced at Provincials also) to have a number plate on your bike during all practices, warmups and races. Numbers shall meet the required size as per the UCI standard. Rule Book here

Medicine Hat did some track work in preparation for Provincial #4 this weekend. Although it didn't break the rider numbers record, the weather was good (just enough rain to keep the temperature down and the track groomed). Racing and organization was great as always at Alberta Provincials. The results will be posted on our POINTS page.

The rescheduled Red Deer Provincial to be run on Saturday August 25th in Calgary is open ONLY TO THOSE RIDERS THAT HAD PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED for the Red Deer Race. If you were not in Red Deer on June 24th for Provincial #3 (and registered) then you can only race Provincial #6 on Sunday August 26th in Calgary.

The Canadian National Championships took place on a newly constructed track in Bromont, Quebec over the weekend of June 29 - July 1st. The track was technical and took it's share of top riders. There was a good showing of Juniors and Elites as it was a requirement for them if they wanted to compete at the Victoria Worlds later this month. The Albertans that did make the trip made a good showing in all classes. There are some pics and videos on the Airdrie website and the full results can be seen on our POINTS page
